Quantum (in)Determinism

This ‘fic featuring Alice Morgan and Jim Moriarty is currently my favourite thing ever. Who is the cat and who is the mouse in a game between these two cold and brilliant minds?

If there’s one thing Alice cannot abide, it’s being framed.

The Ten Doctors

Comments: A fan comic pulling together ten of the Doctor’s incarnations and some popular companions. Along with wondering how they’ve all ended up together they realize someone, or rather, one of them is missing: their eighth incarnation. The banter between all of the Doctors is absolutely perfect and the companions puzzling it all (and each other) out is also right on the money. This comic is a great read for fans of Classic and New Who. *****/*****

Redemption Road

Characters: Dean/Castiel, Sam, Bobby, and a cast of supporting characters
Rating: SPN Post-S6 alternative reality; NC-17 (overall); word count varies by episode
Warnings: Language; graphic violence; explicit sexuality.
Author’s Notes: Redemption Road is a LJ-based virtual season – a fan-generated, large-scale AU project created by members of the SPN and Dean/Castiel fandoms.
Summary:
With Castiel having set himself up as the new God, drunk on power and volatile as a nuclear reactor, Dean, Sam, and Bobby find themselves on the run from the jealous, capricious monster wearing the face of their friend. Desperate for protection and wary of his brother’s mental state since Castiel unlocked Sam’s memories of Hell, Dean knows Castiel must be defused before he can wreak further havoc in Heaven or on Earth. Although Bobby advocates for destroying Castiel by whatever means necessary, Dean is convinced the Cas he once knew still remains, buried somewhere beneath the mass of poisonous souls and calling out for help. Determined to save the angel who once rescued him from Hell and redefined his purpose in life, Dean himself must resist the allure of the false deity vying for his obedience, and come to terms with the knowledge, long-suppressed, that his feelings for Castiel run much deeper than brotherhood. It is this bond, and the dubious distinction of the Righteous Man, that will ultimately grant Dean access to where Castiel’s grace languishes in Purgatory. However, what Dean brings back with him is broken, angry, and only half-angel, certainly not the Castiel he remembers—and nor is it the only thing that returns to Earth with them…

Comments: This, ladies, gentlemen and alternatives, is what I consider the ‘ultimate’ SPN fanfiction. An epic work that puts others to shame it is a rewrite of S7 focusing on a budding relationship between Castiel and Dean and the healing of Sam from his time in the Cage. I actually don’t even have words for how much I love this story but it’s affected me so much that no matter how S8 canon goes or where Castiel and Dean end up I feel like everything I ever wanted for them has occurred in this story. It’s amazing, it’s beautiful, it’s heart-wrenching it’s absolutely worth your time to read. *****/*****

Here There Be Tygers

Genre: hurt/comfort (anterograde amnesia), curtain!fic, horror
Characters: Sam, Dean
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Questionable care-taking ethics.
Author’s Notes: S3 divergent timeline.
Summary: The problem with Dean’s memory is, it means he asks that question about eight trillion times more (“Sammy, are you okay? well, are you?”), and as far as Sam’s concerned, the answer matters even less. The problem with Dean’s life is, it’s supposed to end this year. And the problem with Dean’s brother, well. Sam’s still working on that one.

Comments: Every fandom has ideas that have been spun ‘round and ‘round and reused until they start looking a little faded. This is a new spin that takes a well-loved idea and crafts it in a brilliant and disturbing new way. Genre and warning for this ‘fic should not be taken lightly but if you decide to read it you will be rewarded with one of the best and creepiest ‘Supernatural’ stories I have come across in a long time. *****/*****
